Several Volunteers started their journey in the "Essentials of Firefighting Program" this past Spring. This past Sunday was the last portion of nearly 150 hours of training, the live burn. The live burn portion was conducted at the Franklin County burn building. Volunteers from several local Departments participated in this Program that was conducted via Bucks County Community College. The Buchanan Valley Volunteer Fire Department is very pleased to announce the training program produced 6 new firefighters for BVFD. The above picture shows the 6 newly trained firefighters and Captain Shafer who served as a mentor for the Module D / Burn. Due to age requirements, some Junior Firefighters could only complete up to the Module C portion, and will be ready to finish their training as soon as they are 17. BVFD also wants to point out due to a recent change, a 17 year old is now allowed to complete the entire process including burn.

BVFD would also like to recognize the families that supported all the students. Without the support of their families, these students would have never been able to complete this Program.
