January 31st-AFA- At 06:19 hours BVFD was alerted to SP Box 27-12 The Village of Laurel Run Apartments 6361 Chambersburg Road. Engine Tanker 27, Engine 27, and the Chief responded, upon arrival crews found the cause of the alarm to be burnt food. Chief 27 placed the box in service. January 27th-AFG Grant Awarded- Today it was announced that BVFD will be receiving a $57,000.00 grant to replace all of our fire hose. With several other projects being completed over the last several years, much of our hose is showing it's age. With some of our Supply Hose being older than our Fire Department the grant was very much needed. With a short demo period for manufactures, the goal is to have the new hose ordered and in service by June 1, 2012. This grant has a 5% cost match that falls on BVFD and this is the third year in a row for BVFD receiving an AFG Award. Just wait for #4........

January 26th-Box Alarm- Around 02:00hrs BVFD was alerted to Franklin Box 7-6 10123 Lincoln Way East for smoke in the house. Engine 27 Tanker, Engine 27 responded and arrived behind Franklin Engine Co.7. After investigation it was found to be a good intent call and Franklin Chief 7 held Franklin Co.7, the remainder of the box returned available.
January 25th-AFA/Smoke in the Building- While several Volunteers were working Bingo Company 27 was alerted for an AFA in SP Box 27-12 6375 Chambersburg Road. Engine 27 Tanker, Engine 27, and Chief 27 responded. Upon arrival units found that the alarm was coming from The Village of Laurel Run Apartments 6361 Chambersburg Road, Co.27 found a kitchen fire that was out on arrival with moderate smoke conditions in the entire building. After checking for extension and extensive ventilation was completed with the assistance of Franklin Engine Co.7,and Franklin Truck 17 the box was then placed in service. January 23rd-LODD Funeral- Engine 27 Tanker with 6 Volunteers attended the funeral of Fallen Firefighter Brandon Little. A special thank you to Cumberland County Co.52 for covering the Pumper while we attended the services.

January 18th-LODD- BVFD Members would like to send our thoughts and prayers to Adams County Company 33 United Hook and Ladder and the Family members of Firefighter Brandon Little. You will never be forgotten.........
January 18th-MVA- At 01:52hrs BVFD was alerted to Box 27-7 the 6300 block of Chambersburg Rd for a motor vehicle accident reported one vehicle off the roadway. Engine Tanker 27 and the Chief along with Franklin Squad 7 and MICU-7-8 responded, Deputy Chief 27 arrived on location followed by Engine Tanker 27 with a Class 4 patient pinned. After checking for additional occupants and hazards the crews remained to assist PSP and the Adams County Coroner. Franklin Squad 7 and Engine Tanker 27 crew extricated the patient for the Adams County Coroner and then went in service.
January 11th-Box Alarm- At 20:53hrs BVFD was alerted to Adams County Box 4-2 200 Slate Rock Road for smoke in the house. ET27 and the Chief responded and arrived on location and staged on Chambersburg Road (Route 30) per Command 4, while an investigation could be done. After the investigation was done Command 4 held Adams County Company 4 all other units were placed in service. January 9th-Box Alarm- At 15:39hrs BVFD was alerted to fill the box for non-responding units for the house fire in Franklin Box 7-5 813 Anthony Highway. ET27 and the Chief responded and was third arriving piece of apparatus on scene. Command 7 requested all units to stage and after finding that there was no extension Command 7 held Franklin Company 7 all other units were placed in service.
January 9th-Chimney Fire- At 07:44hrs BVFD was alerted to Franklin County Box 16-1 for the Chimney Fire at 3341 Day Hollow Rd. ET27 and the Capt responded and upon arrival was requested to stage behind Franklin Squad 7. ET27 crew then took Chimney Bombs to the scene per request of Command 16. After the scene was marked under control Command 16 released ET27.
January 7th-Seafood Feast- BVFD pulled off another great Seafood Feast tonight. With a sell out of all 400 tickets it was a busy night for all. Thank You for all that attended and mark your calendars...... Shrimp Feed is February 4th. January 1st-Thank You- BVFD would like to thank everyone who came out and enjoyed the Pork and Sauerkraut Dinner on the first day of the New Year. We had a great crowd and hope to see you all back next year or at our next function.
