Dec. 17th- As a reminder, BVFD is also doing the Secret Santa Program again this Holiday Season.  We are collecting gifts and food to be distributed to local families.  Please see Lt. Perchulyn or Chief Spielman if you are interested in making a donation.  December 23rd will be the cut off for donations.

Dec. 17th- Company 27 was alerted for a MVC in the 6700 block of the Chambersburg Road (27-7).  ET 27, Special Unit 27 and the chief responded to find three vehicles involved off the roadway.  Company 27 handled a fluid leak from the one vehicle and went in service on the arrival of PSP.  Also on the scene was Ambulance 7-7.

Dec. 16th- Once again this year, the Buchanan Valley Volunteer Fire Department is proud to team up with WHTM ABC27 and Kiddie for Operation Save-a-life, to provide smoke detectors to families in the township.  If your home is in need of a smoke detector please contact Chief Spielman to order your free smoke detector today.

 

Company 27's goal is to have a working smoke detector in every house in our community.  If you need assistance with installation of the detector we will even help with that.

Dec. 12th- House Fire- ET-27 responded to Dell Circle in the Franklin 7-5 Box for a house fire.  Franklin Company 7 arrived with a working basement fire.  The ET arrived and positioned itself to supply E-43.  Man power went to the staging area and later assisted with overhaul.

Dec. 10th- Chimney Fire- ET 27 responded to Adams box 5-8 on Boyds Schoolhouse Road.  ET-27 arrived on scene and assisted with roof operations.  Command 5 placed the box in service shortly after.

Dec. 8th - Gas Leak In The Building - Around 14:45 Engine Tanker 27 was Dispatched in Franklin County Box 7-1  1700 Blk of LWE for gas in the building.  ET 27 arrived and was placed as the RIT Company.  All Buildings in the strip mall had to be evacuated due to the gas leak.  Columbia gas arrived on scene and controlled the gas leak.  Unit placed in service.

Dec. 6th- Mobile Home Fire- Shortly after 5 am  Box 4-4 in the area of 4800 Block Chambersburg Road was sounded for a mobile home fire. Engine 4-1 (Cashtown) arrived with a working fire.  ET-27 arrived shortly after and assisted the attack crew from E-4-1. ET-27 along with Engine 27 operated on the fire ground for nearly 3 hours.  Thank You to Engine 7-2 (Bendersville) for covering the 27 House, while we were on the fire.

Dec. 6th- Chimney Fire- At midnight ET 27 was alerted for a chimney fire on Loop Road (Box 16-1).  After an icy voyage ET-27 staged at the fire scene and was later placed in service by Command 16.

Dec. 5th- Crab Leg Feed- Thank You to everyone who attended our Crab Leg Feed.  With over 300 tickets sold it was a very good night.  Our next Crab Leg Feed is January 16th, see you there!

Dec. 5th- Christmas Tree Donation- A special Thank You to the Cole Brothers for the donation of our Christmas Tree.

Nov. 19th- House Fire- BVFD was dispatched and responded to 3338 Day Hallow Road, in Guilford Twp., South Mountain. ET-27 arrived on scene to advance a hose line to C side of exterior, and assist with ventilation.  ET-27 was then reassigned to the interior with overhaul, and salvaging.  Command 16 placed the box in service shortly after.

Nov. 18th- BVFD held the monthly training.  This months training was on car fires.  Thanks to Mike for donating his car for use to burn.

Nov. 18th- BVFD was dispatched to Big Flat Parking Lot assisting with Company 5 on a search detail.  Brush 27 arrived and staged until assigned a duty.  Brush 27 crew did a search by foot in which was about 4.2 miles back in on the Appalachian Trail off of Shippensburg Road.  Brush 27 was then released several hours later.

Nov. 17th- BVFD was dispatched to the 2900 Blk of Old Route 30 for a skid loader on fire with a structure.  ET-27 arrived on scene reporting skid loader out of the structure and fire out, holding the box to company 27.  The 4-4 box was then placed in service shortly after.
